On Thursday, March 24, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. there was a joint worksession of the Manatee County School Board and the Board of County Commissioners concerning growth in North County.  There were two topics:  Schools and Interlocal Agreement.  Handouts at the meeting included slideshows, a booklet and maps. 

The objectives of the schools worksession were:

• Review North County
• Development Proposals
• Population Projections
• School Needs
• Potential Sites

North County was divided into five (5) areas and the slide show presentation included the following information on each:  Area Trends; Development Applications; a map; Population Projections through 2030; and a list of existing schools.

The five areas included:

1. Palmetto and unincorporated County south of I-275 and west of I-75
2. Unincorporated County north of I-275 and west of I-75
3. Unincorporated County west of I-75; south of Erie Road; and east of Fort Hamer Road
4. Unincorporated County north of Erie Road; east of I-75; and west of US 301
5. Unincorporated County east of US 301/Fort Hamer

Toward the end of the presentation, projected needs for elementary, middle and high schools were listed as of 2010, 2020, and 2030 with the totals listed below.
